Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI), a newly rising phenomenon that is suddenly everywhere in our lives and accelerating at an inevitable pace. The convergence of AI and Mental Health Care has led to a new era of possibilities. This exploration investigates the dynamic landscape of AI's influence on mental health care, benefits, concerns, and future potential. AI has introduced innovative prospects for comprehending and addressing mental health challenges, offering solutions to affordability, accessibility, and the apprehension many people experience in traditional face-to-face therapy. Through the review of multiple articles from accredited sources as well as literature, this paper notes the benefits versus potential concerns of incorporating AI into Psychological counseling, especially the usage of AI chatbots, and examines its capacity to be trained and regulated. Moreover, the discussion also introduces the concept of “technology-mediated therapy," where AI provides a comfortable space for patients to engage in conversations about their mental health and deepest concerns. These are insights underline AI's potential to function the same and even better than traditional face-to-face therapy.
