Abstract

This paper explores the influence of partisanship on American news media, focusing on cable news outlets such as CNN and Fox News. Using agenda-setting theory, it analyzes how these outlets present news in ways that align with their partisan stance. The study reveals that while both CNN and Fox News share similar agenda setting, they significantly differ in their partisan preferences, with CNN leaning more liberal and Fox News more conservative. The paper offers insights into how media outlets' reporting orientations can sway public opinion, especially in a polarized society.
